Bella Thorne has made a surprising directorial debut – an adult movie for Pornhub.
The former Disney star’s film, titled “Her & Him,” "depicts an edgy twenty-something guy who stumbles upon a surprise text in his girlfriend's phone, interrupting their morning routine and spinning everything into an out-of-control sexually charged encounter," according to the press release.
Pornhub vice president Corey Price described it as a “modernistic, sexually explicit” Romeo and Juliet-inspired story of two lovers, which was commissioned as part of its Visionaries Director’s Series.
In a promotional behind-the-scenes video of the film-making process, Thorne says her vision was “originally actually to make a Christmas horror movie” but she instead made a “very beautiful, ethereal neon type of vision”.
The 21-year-old said the process was an “interesting” experience, adding it was “quite a fun environment”.
According to Thorne, she had previously shopped the film idea around a long time ago but things were “very different and people are kind of scared to make a movie like this one when it comes to dominance and submissive[ness] between a male and female and how this relationship can turn quite sour”.
“So I was just really lucky that Pornhub believed in my vision and was not scared to jump in it with me,” she said.
Pornhub’s Visionaries Director’s Series features “debut films by unexpected guest directors to diversify porn production and help create more varied content with multiple types of viewers in mind”.
Previous guest directors for Pornhub have included rappers Brooke Candy and Young MA.
Of the collaboration with Thorne, Price said: “Bella’s creativity and imagination [are] personified through the course of the film, as she takes viewers on a journey of passion and desire.”
The film stars adult entertainment actors Abella Danger and Small Hands and features music by rapper Mod Sun.
“Her & Him” will first feature at The Oldenburg Film Festival in Germany on 11 September through the 15, after which it will become available to subscribers of Pornhub Premium.
Last month, Thorne revealed in an interview with Good Morning America that she identifies as pansexual, after previously considering herself bisexual.
“You know what you like,” she said. “Doesn’t have to be a girl or a guy or a he or she or they or this or that. It’s literally you like personality.
“You just like a being.”
