Bella Hadid has seemingly addressed fans’ concerns over her health, after her appearance at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show sparked speculation on social media.
ICYMI, the model graced the stage alongside other stars like Iris Law, Emily Ratajkowski and Barbie Ferreira for the fashion show in Brooklyn earlier this week.
Hadid sported two looks for the glitzy event, including a red bikini number and a white corset with matching angel wings.
While Hadid was the picture of elegance, the timing of the show so soon after her recent health struggles prompted some fans to speculate whether she was in the right state to appear on the catwalk.
“She looks so uncomfortable,” one user wrote on TikTok, while another questioned why she “looks like she’s in pain”.
At the height of the commentary, Hadid reportedly took to social media to reveal the real reason she might have been struggling.
“Ok we’re not going to pretend these wings weren’t 50 pounds (22 kilograms) but HOW BEAUTIFUL,” Hadid wrote on her Instagram Stories, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Sporting a heavy prop while balancing in heels and serving face card is no small feat, particularly given that, just weeks ago, Hadid was hospitalised after a fresh flare-up of Lyme disease.
Last month, Hadid revealed on social media that she had been receiving treatment for the tick-bite-associated illness, sharing photos of herself in hospital alongside her mother and fellow Lyme disease sufferer, Yolanda Hadid.
“As you will understand, watching my Bella struggle in silence has cut the deepest core of hopelessness inside me,” Yolanda wrote on Instagram last month.
“The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease is hard to explain or understand for anyone,” she added.
The arrival of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in the midst of Hadid’s health battle raised concerns for some social media users, with one writing, “she was literally just hospitalised. I don’t know why they pushed her that much”.
Elsewhere in the Hadid-verse, Bella and Gigi Hadid revealed earlier this year that they have a long-lost half-sister named Aydan Nix, while Gigi is moving full-steam ahead with her romance with actor Bradley Cooper.
