Belfast youth club closes for deep clean after staff member's contact with COVID-19 patient

A Belfast youth and after-school club has closed for a deep clean after one of its staff came into contact with someone who has Coronavirus.

Holy Trinity Youth Centre made the "urgent" announcement on social media.

The West Belfast youth club said in the post: "It has come to our attention that one of our staff members has recently been in contact with a person who has tested positive for Coronavirus.

"We have taken advice from the Public Health Agency and they have advised that we should close and undertake a deep clean of the building.

"As a result there will be no Afterschools' today and the centre will remain shut tonight.

"Please be reassured that the member of Staff in question has NOT shown any symptoms, nor has any of the rest of our staff team.

"Our number one priority will always be the health and well being of all our young people.

"Any further updates will be posted on this page.

"Thanks for your understanding."

A total of 18 people have now got the virus in Northern Ireland, while one person is reported to have died in the Republic.

The virus has now spread through more than 100 countries worldwide.

Health chiefs are urging people to wash their hands, not touch their faces and to call their GP if they think they have the symptoms.
