Belfast weather: Weekend forecast as temperatures to reach -4C and rain expected

Temperatures across Northern Ireland have been low this week following the sunny spells and warmth we enjoyed last week.

As we look ahead towards the rest of the weekend, the weather is set to be changeable.

On Saturday night, temperatures are set to plummet with some parts of Northern Ireland facing lows of -4C.

The Met Office have said that Saturday is set to be "a mainly dry day." They added: "Variable amounts of cloud and some bright or sunny intervals, the best of these later in the afternoon.

"Maximum temperature 10 °C."

It's set to remain dry overnight with some patchy cloud moving into the south during the evening, with light northwest winds.

The minimum overnight temperature is expected to be -4C.

Sunday will get off to a dry start, however, it doesn't look like this will last for long. The weather forecaster said: "A dry morning. Bright to start, but cloud thickening through the morning.

"Outbreaks of rain spreading east later in the afternoon. Increasingly breezy and milder. Maximum temperature 11C."

The early outlook for Monday to Wednesday predicts more changeable weather. Monday will get off to a "mild but breezy" start with "often persistent rain."

Tuesday will bring in "widespread rain" in the morning that will "clear to showers."

We're set to get some respite from the rain with some dry weather for a time on Wednesday, but heavy rain is expected to roll in later in the day.
