Salting of roads is underway tonight as 'temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing', say Trafficwatch NI.
Motorists are being urged to 'exercise caution' especially when using any roads that may be untreated.
Trafficwatch NI explained: " Temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing with a risk of ice on the roads across the parts of the South and East overnight.
"Salting of roads on the scheduled network considered to be at risk is currently underway in the East and planned overnight in the South.
"Road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling, particularly when driving on untreated roads.
"Dfi Engineers will continue to monitor the weather and road surface temperatures overnight and undertake further salting of the network if required."
For Sunday, the Met Office say: "Most places staying dry and bright with good sunny spells the best of these in Armagh and Down. A few showers in the west. Fresh west winds towards North Coast. Maximum temperature 8C."
And what about the beginning of the week?
For Monday to Wednesday the Met Office added: "Cloudier on Monday and Tuesday with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times. Then brighter on Wednesday with sunny intervals and showers."
