Belfast weather: Sunny and dry with strong winds in evening

It is set to be bright and sunny across Belfast after a cold start to the day.

The Met Officer forecasters have given their predictions for Monday, February 22, saying that it will be dry for the majority of the day, with some rain coming in from the East later.

There will be long sunny spells throughout the day with a maximum temperature of 10 degrees.

The sun will rise at 7.31am and set at 5.45pm.

The Met Office said: "It will be dry and bright with long sunny spells. After a chilly start it will feel pleasant in any sunshine. Light southerly winds, strengthening during the afternoon.

"(Tonight) Cloud thickening during the evening and winds becoming strong. Rain will spread east overnight and will be heavy and persistent overnight. Severe gales around the east coasts."

Tuesday is to be a much different day with heavy rain and strong winds predicted, with the possibility of gales at the coast.

The Met Office said: "A wet day for most on Tuesday, rain becoming heavy and persistent at times. Strong southwesterly winds for all with gales or severe gales around the coasts."
