Belfast weather set to be warm and dry with brighter days ahead

The weather in Belfast and across Northern Ireland is looking pretty bleak at the moment... but it is soon forecast to get better.

"Overcast" skies and highs of 18C are forecast in Belfast on Wednesday, August 18, according to Met Office, with thick morning cloud becoming lighter in the afternoon, before changing back again in the evening.

Thursday, August 19 is looking a little less bleak, with highs of 18C and light cloud forecast for the majority of the day.

While it may not be the brightest of midweeks, we should avoid rain until at least Friday, August 20, when light showers from lunchtime mark the start of a fairly wet weekend in Belfast.

And the picture across Northern Ireland is looking pretty much the same - "with occasional rainbands crossing erratically from south and southwest from mid-Friday, turning heavy at times," Met Office said.

But with any luck, we will see the light at the end of the tunnel, when cloud should change to sunny intervals by late on Monday morning (August 23).

Tuesday, August 24 is also forecast to be sunny, with highs of 20C in Belfast. We could even see temperatures soaring to 21C in Fermanagh and Tyrone.

Let's hope this is the start of the August weather we have been waiting for.
