Belfast weather: Rainy weekend forecast but sunny highs of 21C by mid-week

It may be a little wet and wild across Northern Ireland this weekend, but with any luck, we should be seeing some sunshine in no time.

A yellow weather warning for rain and potential thunderstorms is in place across a number of regions this Saturday, August 21.

Belfast, Craigavon, Dungannon and Cookstown are amongst those affected.

It will be "a mostly cloudy day" according to Met Office, "with scattered showers or longer spells of rain.

"Some heavy, thundery downpours likely in the afternoon. Feeling rather warm and humid.

"Maximum temperature 19°C."

Showers should die down by Saturday evening, and the rest of the night will hopefully be dry.

And while Sunday, August 22, is forecast to be cloudy, it will at least be a mainly dry day.

We may even see some warm afternoon sunshine in some parts of NI.

When we get to Monday, August 23, the weather really should start picking up.

Met Office expects all areas of Northern Ireland to be dry, with some good spells of sunshine becoming warm, and light wind.

We could see highs of 21C in Belfast, and even 22C further South.

This dry, sunny weather is expected to continue at least until Friday, August 27.
