Belfast Weather: Forecasters predict a mainly dry day with sunny spells

Belfast weather is due to pick up following a very cold, wet and windy Friday.

Forecasters have predicted that Saturday will be an altogether, drier and more sunny day with some cloud expected.

On Friday night the wind howled through letter boxes and windows in homes across the North. But Saturday's weather is tipped to be more pleasant and should provide the perfect opportunity for some outdoor activities, with just a few light showers and much lighter winds expected.

Wind speeds are to fall throughout the day from around 14mph to 5mph by 11pm.

The sun will rise at 8.29am and set again at 4pm, providing around 7.5 hours of daylight.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A mainly dry and brighter day with some sunshine. Just a few light showers, mostly around the coasts. Lighter northerly winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C."

The temperature on Saturday is predicted to peak at around 7 degrees before falling to 4 degrees as we head into the evening.

The Met Office outlook for Sunday through to Tuesday is also looking up with it expected to stay dry until Tuesday.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mainly dry on Sunday and Monday, perhaps the odd shower. Overnight frost and freezing fog. Likely to remain dry on Tuesday.
