Belfast weather forecast set for 17 hours of rainfall on Tuesday

We have gotten off relatively lightly in terms of rain in recent weeks, but that is about to change.

Tuesday's weather forecast for Northern Ireland is looking pretty wet and miserable for most of the day.

The Met Office has predicted rainfall from just after midnight until 5pm later in the night.

It will then dry up for the rest of the evening but with temperatures dropping to around 5C.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Further outbreaks of rain are expected throughout the day on Tuesday [November 24], with some heavy bursts at times. This clearing to the east during the evening with drier conditions behind and maximum temperatures of around 12C."

Wednesday's weather forecast for Northern Ireland is better with predictions stating it will be a dry day from morning to night - but temperatures will drop further to around 1C.

"Largely dry with sunny spells over the coming days, perhaps the odd shower on Wednesday," a spokesperson added.

"Feeling much colder than of late."
