Belfast weather forecast promises a balmy weekend with a dull and damp start

Promises of a heatwave this weekend look set to be realised but the weather in Belfast will be off to a rather dull and damp start on Saturday morning.

According to the Met Office, however, we will see some "bright and sunny spells" developing later.

The weather forecast for May 29, also suggests we should get ready for temperatures reaching 20 degrees.

A Met Office spokesperson said it will be a "a dull, damp start but brightening up through the day with some good spells of sunshine developing in the afternoon".

They said it will also be "feeling warm" with ~"perhaps some mist lingering on the Down coast".

The maximum temperature for Saturday will be 20°C and we are expected to have a low of around 10°C.

Sunrise was at 4.58am and will set again at 9.44pm.

It is advisable to apply sunscreen, especially for kids, as UV levels will reach medium. Pollution is to remain low on Saturday - as are the pollen levels - but the pollen count is expected to rise on Sunday.

As for Sunday, they predict "a fine spell of weather".

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

"A fine dry and warm spell of weather with some sunny periods. Winds will be light. Early morning mist and low cloud possible."
