Belfast weather forecast predicts damp start but the rest of week is looking bright

Northern Ireland is set for a rather dull, damp and cloudy start this morning with much of the country experiencing some light rain.

But there are brighter conditions on the horizon as it is set to clear by lunchtime in most places and gradually become drier with some sunny spells.

According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, Tuesday will be a "damp and cloudy start with patchy light rain and drizzle. Drier and brighter conditions reaching Lough Foyle and the north coast by lunchtime and gradually becoming brighter elsewhere during the afternoon with some sunny spells developing. Maximum temperature 11 °C."

Tonight will be rather cloudy but a dry night is expected with clear skies meaning it will feel cold and a frost will develop as temperatures drop to -2.

Turning our attention to later this week we're in for some long spells of dry and sunny weather from Wednesday through until Sunday according to the latest forecast.

It will feel pleasant in the sunshine but chilly with a light breeze, so we might get the BBQ lit this weekend after all!
