Belfast's weather will kick off rather nicely on Monday morning but sadly the bright morning will turn into a rather wet afternoon.

According to today's forecast it will be a bright morning but cloud and rain will spread south later in the day.

The weather forecast for May 24, also suggests we are in for some fresh north-westerly winds.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A bright morning with sunny spells and a few, mainly light showers. In the afternoon cloud increases from the north bringing outbreaks of rain south later. Fresh northwesterly winds."

Tonight:

They added that there will be "outbreaks of rain clear away south this evening to leave a mainly dry night with clear spells developing. The northwesterly breeze will be strong at times towards the coast".

The maximum temperature for Monday will be 15 °C and we are expected to have a low of 4 °C.

Sunrise was at 5.05am and it will set again at 9.37pm.

It is advisable to apply sunscreen, especially for kids, as UV levels will reach medium. Pollution is to remain low - as are the pollen levels.

As for Tuesday, they predict the odd shower.

Tuesday:

"A bright day with some good spells of sunshine around and just the odd shower. Occasionally fresh northwesterly winds slowly easing. Maximum temperature 15 °C."

And Wednesday to Friday will also bring some sunny spells.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

"Mainly dry Wednesday with sunny spells and light winds. Bright start Thursday but cloudier with a little rain. Cloud and patchy rain Friday clearing to leave a drier, brighter afternoon."
