An extra few layers of clothes is the right idea for the next few days as the Met Office predicts freezing temperatures.
Alongside wintry winds, some snow will settle over high ground on Wednesday night.
The day will start off a dry and sunny morning in the east with showers in the west. These showers will spread east to all parts during the afternoon, turning wintry over the hills.
It will feel cold with freshening southwesterly winds, the Met Office says, with a maximum temperature of 7C.
However, that temperature will drop to below 0C tonight.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Showers overnight [on Wednesday], some heavy with hail and sleet. Some snow will settle over high ground. [There will be] widespread frost with a chance of icy patches. Minimum temperatures of -1C.
"[And on Thursday] there will be wintry showers in the morning. These becoming more confined to coastal areas in the afternoon with increasing amounts of sunshine.
"Widespread frost developing after dark and maximum temperatures of around 5C."
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for BoyleSports said the chances of snowfall on Christmas Day is "looking rather unlikely".
Sarah Kinsella added: "Punters are more optimistic. It’s now 6/1 from 10/1 for snow to fall on December 25 at Belfast Airport while Shannon Airport has also seen support and is now 11/2 from 7/1.”
