Belfast weather forecast for Wednesday with patchy rain

The Met Office say Wednesday will have sunny spells developing with a few showers.

According to the weather forecast for January 20, it's a "cloudy start across the south and east with patchy rain but drier conditions across the north and west soon spread east".

The forecaster added: "A few afternoon showers develop across the north and west but most places remains dry. Maximum temperature 6 C."

Tonight, a few showers are set to continue across northern and western areas through the evening and overnight.

The Met Office said: "Southern parts look largely dry with clear spells allowing a frost to develop. Minimum temperature -1 C."

Thursday is set to be a bright day, "although the north coast likely to be cloudier at times, with occasional showers, these turning increasingly wintry over the hills".

There will be fresh northwesterly winds, locally strong near coasts with a maximum temperature of 6 C.

From Friday to Sunday, the forecaster predicts it will be cold with sunny or clear spells and, especially in north and west, wintry showers, falling mainly as snow inland.

The Met Office said: "Northwesterly winds easing with widespread overnight frosts."
