Belfast weather forecast for the weekend ahead

The Met Office say there will be scattered showers on Friday with longer spells of rain by evening.

According to the weather forecast for March 12 we will have sunny intervals, but showers will be occasionally heavy with some snow on the hills.

The forecaster added: "Thickening cloud will bring some persistent rain from the west later in the afternoon. Brisk westerly winds easing and backing southwesterly. Maximum temperature 7 C."

It will be a cloudy evening and night with rain at times, occasionally heavy. It will then become "somewhat drier and clearer later in the night with a touch of ground developing in places" with a minimum temperature of 1 C.

On Saturday, there will be some bright or sunny intervals and occasional showers.

The Met Office said: "These briefly heavy especially in the north. Feeling chilly in the brisk northwesterly winds." The predicted top temperature is 8 C.

It's set to be cloudy on Sunday with rain for a time. There's a chance of light rain on Monday in certain areas.

The forecaster said: "Overnight rain soon clearing on Tuesday then dry and sunny."
