Belfast weather forecast for Sunday December 20

Today Northern Ireland is set for bright spells and blustery showers.

The Met Office said we can expect the "the best of the sunshine across counties Antrim and Down with the showers most frequent around Lough Foyle, through Tyrone and Fermanagh".

It added that today will be "windy with strong winds around the coast, gales later. Maximum temperature 8C".

And what about tonight?

The forecast reads: "Windy with showers this evening, the showers mainly around the North Coast. Generally dry overnight with a few clear spells, although rain expected to push into the south by dawn. Minimum temperature 4C."

For Monday, the Met Office said: "Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the morning, occasionally heavy in the east. Becoming drier and brighter from the west in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 7C."

Meanwhile, punters are feeling optimistic of a White Christmas this year to boost festive spirits despite Met Éireann stating that snow falling on Christmas Day in measurable quantities is relatively rare in Ireland.
