Belfast weather forecast for Easter bank holiday weekend

It's pretty safe to say the Northern Irish weather has been on top form recently, and by that we mean entirely unpredictable!

From the hottest day of the year to date to torrential downpours, sleet and high winds, we've pretty much had it all as usual in the last week or so.

And if you're planning some outdoor (socially-distant of course) activities for over the Easter holidays then the weather looks to be on our side, for the most part.

According to the latest forecast from the Met Office we're set for some decent dry weather but you will need to grab some layers as the temperatures are set to drop dramatically next week.

For Holy Thursday, April 1, we can expect  'any low cloud and mist to soon clear to leave a dry and bright day with some sunny spells expected. Chilly around the coast, but pleasant inland in any sunshine. Maximum temperature 14 °C."

As for the outlook from Good Friday to Easter Sunday, the Met Office forecaster say it will be 'mainly dry and bright on Friday and Saturday. Feeling quite warm in any sunshine, but a risk of frost at night. Colder with rain clearing to wintry showers on Sunday."

But as for Easter Monday and beyond, April showers and bitterly cold temperatures seem to be on the horizon as well as the possibility of snow in some areas.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Continued unsettled weather into this period, and widely cold temperatures to start. A very cold day for all on Monday, with the north and west seeing the most frequent and heavy showers, but also likely affecting the east. The showers are likely to be wintry to low levels.

"This general picture continues into much of April, with showers most frequent around the north and east and any snow will most likely restricted to higher ground of the north later. "
