Belfast weather forecast for a wet and windy Thursday

Unfortunately, we will not be seeing the sun again today as forecasters predict an unsettled day with strong winds and heavy rain throughout.

According to Met Office, expect cloud over most places and some areas where wind may turn into a gale.

Thankfully indoor hospitality is set to return in only a couple of days as this weather is not ideal for those planning on heading out for a drink or a bite to eat outdoors.

The weather forecaster also said to anticipate " a cool day with fresh to strong southeasterly winds, gales possible along the Antrim coast".

"A cloudy day with spells of rain. The rain will be most persistent and heavy at times over County Down," they added.

Moving into the evening, we will see the rain and cloud continue however heavy showers are expected to ease.

As for Tuesday night, Met Office said: "t will continue cloudy overnight with further rain. Still some heavier outbreaks at first tonight then the rain becoming lighter, more patchy by morning. Fresh northeasterly winds."

The maximum temperature for Tuesday is 11°C and we are expected to have experience lows of 9 °C. Sunrise was at 5.10 am and will set again at 9.31 pm.

Looking to Friday, fewer showers and lighter winds are forecasted.

"Cloudy morning but the rain mostly dying out, leaving a drier afternoon and becoming a little brighter. Fresh northerly winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C," Met Office explained.
