Belfast weather forecast for a dry and bright Wednesday

The Met Office says it will be mainly dry and increasingly bright on Wednesday.

According to its weather forecast for December 23, sunny spells will turn more widespread into the afternoon.

The forecaster added: "However cloudier across Down and Belfast early to mid-morning with some patchy rain possible. Northeast winds [will be] fresh, occasionally strong across coasts. Maximum temperature 9 C."

Tonight, it is predicted there will be isolated showers across western and northern districts during the evening, turning more frequent overnight.

The Met Office said a few will be "spreading southeast to the rest of the Province before dawn". Strong winds are also predicted with a minimum temperature of -1 C.

For Christmas Eve, showers and weak sunny spells are expected.

The forecaster said: "Outbreaks mainly through the morning and across the north of the country, before dwindling during the afternoon as the northern winds ease. Maximum temperature 7 C."

Showery rain crossing from the west is predicted during Christmas Day.

Gales, showers and longer periods of rain are forecast for Boxing day, being heaviest in the west. More showers are forecast for Sunday.
