Belfast weather forecast as snow set to fall across country

Storm Bella certainly made her presence known across Northern Ireland on Boxing Day as strong winds and incessant rain swept across the country.

And the outlook for Sunday suggests it's going to get a little better today, but not much with even some snow forecast for Northern Ireland this evening.

According to the latest from the Met Office, today we can expect "Bright spells and scattered showers. Showers will be heavy at times with snow, mostly on high ground but snow to lower levels is possible this evening.

"A cold day with strong westerly winds, easing down later. Maximum temperature 4 °C."

A yellow weather warning remains in place from 6pm this evening until 10am on Monday for snow and ice.

Tonight's forecast calls for an extra blanket on the bed with temperatures set to dip to minus 1. The Met Office say: "Wintry showers becoming fewer and lighter overnight with clear periods developing. It will be a cold night with a touch of frost and risk of icy patches. Fresh northerly winds."
