Belfast Weather: Dry throughout the day with sunny spells

It is set to be a dry and sunny day across Belfast today although it will be quite cold.

The Met Office forecasters have  given their predictions for Tuesday, December 15, saying it will be a fairly bright and sunny day with a light breeze.

There will be less of a five per cent chance of rain in the Belfast area, although it is more likely on the Down coast and in the West.

The maximum temperature will be eight degrees, but it is likely to feel two or three degrees colder.

The sun will rise at 8.41am and set at 3.58pm.

The Met Office said: "Most areas will have a dry day with some sunshine at times. There may be the odd brief shower, most likely in the far west, and also close to the Down Coast.

"Some early clear spells but clouding over through the evening. Some patchy rain developing, this becoming heavier and more persistent later tonight with strengthening southeasterly winds, and gale."

A yellow weather warning for strong winds has been issued for Northern Ireland on Wednesday, when there is expected to be heavy rain and  gales throughout the day.

The Met Office said: "Heavy rain and strong to gale southeast winds at first, the rain easing by dawn though some lighter rain will affect the northwest. Brightening up in south."
