Belfast Weather: Cold, windy and wet throughout the day

It is set to be a cold, windy and rainy day across Belfast today according to the Met Office.

The forecasters have predicted a cold start to the day with temperatures dropping to three degrees at around 10am, before becoming gradually warmer later reaching a maximum of eight degrees.

It will be cloudy throughout the day with rain for most of the late morning and afternoon, which will dry up before further downpours later.

Wind speeds will reach a maximum of 22mph with gusts of 44mph.

The sun will rise at 8.28am and set at 4pm.

The Met Office said: "Cold start this morning with icy patches. Cloud and rain, some hill snow, will spread from the northeast this morning. Cloudy with rain at times this afternoon. Windy with strong northerly winds, gales along the coast.

"This evening and the first part of the night will see rain at times. Turning drier and less windy later. Northerly coastal gales gradually easing down."

There is some good news, as Saturday is set to be a brighter and dryer day, but the temperatures will still be low.

The Met Office outlook for Saturday said: "Mainly dry with some sunny periods, chance of a shower across the north and east."
