Belfast traffic: PSNI warning as disruption expected on Friday

Road users in South and East Belfast are advised to anticipate traffic disruption on Friday evening due to a number of events.

Police say there will be traffic restrictions on Onslow Parade and Mount Merrion avenue from 5.30pm due to a Rugby match at Ravenhill.

And in South Belfast, Boucher Road will be closed to through traffic from 10pm tonight through to midnight due to the AVA event.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "For those attending the AVA event, please consider using public transport and if you are arranging collection by private car or taxi after the event, please agree your collection points well away from the venue and please respect local residents."

Motorists are also advised to expect delays at the M1 Westbound between junctions 3 and 6 following a road traffic collision this afternoon. Motorists should seek alternative main routes for their journey.

Meanwhile, Liam Gallagher has cancelled his Belsonic gig in Belfast, which was due to be tonight.

He says the concert is no longer going ahead this weekend as he has 'bust his nose' after a helicopter incident and that he is unable to sing.

The concert has been rescheduled to June 24, 2022.

In a statement released on Twitter on Tuesday morning, Liam said: "Absolutely gutted to cancel my Belfast show this weekend. I had an accident after IOW festival and have bust my nose so cant sing.

"The Doctors have told me to rest up. Apologies to all the people who has bought tickets.. the show is being rescheduled...i'll make it up to ya. LG x"
