Belfast traffic: PSNI issue disruption warning due to concerts and parades

By Lauren Harte

Police have issued guidance for motorists in Belfast this weekend as traffic disruption is expected.

Drivers are advised to anticipate some traffic disruption on Saturday evening due to planned concerts and events including parades.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "In East Belfast, there may be some disruption between 6pm and 9pm due to a band parade in the Lower Newtownards Road Road, Albertbridge Road and surrounding areas.

"In South Belfast, there will be increased traffic and pedestrians in the area of Ormeau Park due to the Belsonic concert. Ormeau embankment will be closed to through traffic from the Ormeau Road junction, to the Ravenhill Road junction from 4pm until midnight.

"Coaches and buses transporting people to the Belsonic concert will be facilitated by approaching the embankment from the Ormeau Road junction."

Concert goers are being urged to consider using public transport, and if you are arranging collection by private car or taxi after the event, please agree your collection points well away from the venue and please respect local residents.

On Boucher Road, road users should plan for increased road and pedestrian traffic due to the Planet Love event at Boucher Playing Fields, from noon through to midnight.

Boucher Road will be closed to traffic from 10pm so again collection points should be arranged well away from the venue and those attending should respect local residents.

Information on the expected traffic disruptions can be obtained from the Traffic Information and Control Centre on 08457 123321, or via www.trafficwatchni.com.
