Belfast to Bangor A2 lane still closed after electric pole falls

One lane of the A2 Belfast to Bangor Road remains closed after an electricity pole fell this morning.

It is the second such incident along the busy arterial route in a matter of weeks.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.

A PSNI spokesperson said this morning: "The inside lane, Bangor bound, of the A2 Bangor to Belfast road, is closed due to a fallen electricity pole.

"It's expected to be closed for some time, so please seek an alternative route.

"We'll keep you updated once the lane has been re-opened."

NIE Networks said they are working to fix the problem on the Belfast to Bangor Road.

They are also dealing with eight faults throughout Northern Ireland that appear to have cut power to scores of homes across the region.

A spokesperson added: "The road will be cleared shortly and all but 1 customer has had power restored. Further repairs will be undertaken to restore power to the customer still without supply."
