Belfast to Alicante easyJet flight forced to divert due to medical emergency

An easyJet flight from Belfast to Alicante was forced to divert to France due to a medical emergency.

The flight, which left Belfast International Airport on Tuesday, had to land in Brest due to a passenger needing urgent medical help.

Upon arrival at the airport, the passenger requiring medical assistance was met by paramedics.

It is understood that the plane was grounded in Brest for around two hours before it set off again to Alicante.

The condition of the passenger is not known and easyJet has said that the wellbeing of its customers and crew are of its highest priority.

An easyJet spokesperson said: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY6701 from Belfast to Alicante diverted to Brest due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance. Paramedics met the aircraft on arrival in Brest and the flight is due to continue to Alicante. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority.”
