Belfast spot named in Michelin Guide's 'Favourite New Restaurants' list

A Belfast restaurant has been recognised as one of the best up-and-coming spots this month across the UK and Ireland.

The Michelin Guide has announced 15 new additions to its new restaurant recommendation list, including only one contender from Northern Ireland.

A Peculiar Tea, located in South Belfast, has been selected as one of the Michelin Inspectors' 'Favourite New Restaurants'.

A Peculiar Tea was created by Chef Gemma Austin as an escape from reality and the stresses of adult life.

The website states she is “known to her friends as a female Peter Pan”, she loves to use food to make her guests feel a sense of nostalgia and playfulness.

Here is what the Michelin Guide had to say:

"Chef-owner Gemma Austin believes food should be fun and changes the theme of the evening tasting menu at this restaurant – tagline ‘The Emporium of Imagination’ – every 8-10 weeks: think Cluedo, Harry Potter or Alice in Wonderland.

"The cheery staff are all clearly on board with this quirky concept."
