Belfast-set comedy My Left Nut nominated for Broadcast Digital Award

My Left Nut, a new Belfast-based comedy drama which aired on BBC Three online, has received a nomination for the Broadcast Digital Awards.

The show, which was written by local newcomers Michael Patrick and Oisín Kearney, has been nominated in the Best Drama Programme category.

The series was filmed on location in Northern Ireland with funding from Northern Ireland Screen.

It follows school-boy Mick (played by newcomer Nathan Quinn-O’Rawe) and his journey after discovering a swelling on his testicle.

He can’t tell his dad, who he died seven years ago. He can’t tell his mum  Patricia (Sinéad Keenan), as she’s got a million other things on her plate. He can’t tell his schoolmates, because there’s an upside to rumours about the bulge in your trousers…  And he's desperate not to complicate things with his girlfriend.

Speaking to Belfast Live about the nomination, Michael Patrick told us: "Myself and Oisín are over the moon to see My Left Nut nominated for Best Drama at the Broadcast Digital Awards.

"It's so great to see all the hard work by the incredibly talented cast and crew recognised. The show was set and filmed in Belfast, we're very proud of that, and to know that there's people out there seeing Belfast on screen in a new light - we couldn't ask for more."
