Belfast schoolboy in 'serious' condition after being hit by car

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses after a teenage schoolboy was hit by a car on Friday morning.

The 15-year-old was struck by a white Ford Focus on the Creighton Road in Dunmurry before 9am.

He has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital and police said he is in a "serious" condition.

Sergeant Hamilton said: "Shortly after 8.45am, it was reported that a teenage boy was struck by a white Ford Focus. The boy was taken to hospital for his injuries and his condition is described as serious.

"Police would be keen to speak with the driver of a white Vauxhall Corsa who is believed to have witnessed the incident and may be able to assist with police enquiries.

"We would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage available to contact police at Woodbourne on 101, quoting reference number 272 07/02/20."

Councillor Daniel Baker said his thoughts were with the boy's family.

He said: "My thoughts and prayers are with the young boy and his family. With all my heart I hope he is OK."

An ambulance service spokesman said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 08.43 on Friday February 7 2020 following reports of an RTC at Creighton Road, Dunmurry.

"NIAS dispatched one Emergency crew two Doctors and two Rapid Response Paramedics to the scene. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, two patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast."
