Belfast school to implement one-way system after safety concerns

A new traffic system will be put in place at a South Belfast school after safety concerns were raised by parents.

A one-way system is to be implemented at Donegall Road Primary School in the coming weeks.

Parents at The Village school requested that a one-way system would be used in the morning and afternoon.

The Department for Infrastructure agreed and signs are to be put in place after Easter.

DUP MLA Christopher Stalford said: "When concerns were raised with me about traffic around the school, Councillor Kelly and I decided to engaged the Department for Infrastructure to see if they could help. I am really pleased that they have and that this system has been approved."

Councillor Tracy Kelly added: "I'm very pleased that the Department for Infrastructure are willing to consider the option of a part-time one-way street. Hopefully this will ease the traffic and make it a little safer.

"Donegall Road Primary School is a vital local facility providing first class education in the area.

"It is important that the children at the school feel as safe as possible."
