Belfast's WorkPal opens London office as turnover doubles

A surge in business across England has prompted Belfast company WorkPal to open an office in London.

The company, which provides software to help manage mobile workforces, said it will create 12 jobs at the new base as part of a £500,000 investment.

The office is due to open in June and has been developed in response to “surging client numbers” including one of its biggest contracts to date. It said annual turnover has doubled in recent days to £5.4 million, with more than 50% of the company’s clients now based in England.

Ian Megahey, Sales Director, WorkPal, welcomed the opening.

“The London office has been a long-time coming and follows on from a very pleasing influx of new clients in that region of the UK, including some of our biggest deals yet,” he said.

WorkPal already has offices in Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, and New Jersey. It is part of the the Megahey family-owned Barclay Group, which also includes Barclay Communications and Barclay Digital Services.

The office will be headed by newly appointed UK Sales Director, Mark Weston.

Mr Weston has a background that spans more than 20 years in the comms sector having undertaken roles at Exertis UK Ltd, HTC, Nokia, Microsoft and LG, Symatec and Acer.

“The SaaS (software as a service) market is a fast paced environment and a challenge I’m very much looking forward to,” Mr Weston said. “WorkPal is an exciting place to work, with lots of talented people and it is my pleasure to be a part of this ever-growing company. There are lots of opportunities in the UK to partner with businesses, optimising services as part of their digital transformation journey.”

WorkPal offers a full overview of workflows for companies with employees working in the field, providing transparency of service operative’s location and job status at any time.
