Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital treating "serious injuries" of border crash victim

A man who was injured in a crash just south of the border has been taken to Belfast Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment to "serious injuries".

The N1 northbound was closed between J19 at Ravensdale and J20 at Jonesborough at 7pm on Wednesday evening (Feb 26).

Gardaí have confirmed that officers from Dundalk attended a four-vehicle crash just before junction 20.

A spokesperson said: "One man (early 50s) was removed from the scene to Royal Victoria Hospital, in Belfast with serious injuries. No other persons in the remaining vehicles required medical attention.

"A section of the road is currently closed and diversions are in place.

"Investigations ongoing."

The PSNI said earlier that they were unaware of the incident.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service has also been contacted for comment.
