Belfast Road crash sees three people taken to hospital

Three people have been taken to hospital following a four vehicle crash near Glenavy this afternoon.

Emergency Services including the charity Air Ambulance were called to the scene on the Belfast Road, just before 1pm on Sunday.

After assessment and treatment at the scene, two people were taken to Antrim Area Hospital and one person was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

A spokesperson for NI Ambulance Service said: "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 12:59 on Sunday 18 October following reports of a 4 vehicle RTC on Belfast Road, Glenavy.

"NIAS dispatched 4 Emergency crews and an ambulance officer to the scene. The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board was also tasked to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, 1 patient was taken by ambulance to RVH and 2 others were taken to Antrim Area Hospital."
