Belfast road closures expected for £290,000 resurfacing scheme

A Co Antrim road is set to be affected by closures and delays to accommodate a £290,000 road resurfacing scheme.

The resurfacing work on Kings Road, Belfast will stretch from Sandown Road to Knock Road and is due to commence on Monday 9 September.

The Department for Infrastructure said it should 'greatly improve the surface quality of the carriageway and footways'.

"To ensure work is completed as safely and efficiently as possible, this section of Kings Road will be closed Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm," the department said in a statement.

"Access will be maintained for residents and to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to follow signed diversionary routes, comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to exercise care when travelling through, or in the vicinity of, the works.

"The Department has programmed the work and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience to residents, however, road users should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when planning any journeys.

"The scheme is expected to be completed by the end of October 2019, however this is dependent on favourable weather conditions and the Department will keep the public informed of any change to the completion date."
