A popular city centre restaurant has announced permanent closure at its current premises this afternoon.
Dublin Road restaurant Kitch, which boasted locally sourced dishes and promised 'that something different', shared the announcement on its social media channels.
The team behind the restaurant said that they would not be reopening at the Dublin Road site, and said that the building they're located in is due to be demolished to make way for a new development.
Their post reads:
"** Announcement **
"It is with a heavy heart that we are sad to announce that Kitch Restaurant shall not be reopening on our current premises on the Dublin Road. With the expiry of our lease the building is due to be demolished to make way for a new development.
"We have been actively seeking new premises for the previous 2 years and that search has been difficult with the Covid Pandemic as you can appreciate."
Despite the bad news, Kitch said that they hope to reopen the premises in a new location.
They said: "Moving forward our search for new premises continues & look forward to bringing our unique Kitch experience back to you very soon!
"A big thankyou to you all our customers and staff who have made this a memorable part of our lives & wish you all a safe and prosperous year ahead

"Team Kitch x"
Past customers of Kitch shared their sadness at the news, with one person replying: "Absolutely gutted! I remember my first visit in 2014 when you first opened and my many tasty visits in the years since.
"Got my fingers crossed for suitable premises soon! Keep well guys, all I’ll look forward to seeing you when you reopen."
