Belfast restaurant gutted after three no shows on Saturday night

A Belfast restaurant has hit out after being left in the lurch by three no shows on Saturday night.

After an incredibly difficult year for the industry, every cover is vital as hospitality tries to claw back losses incurred due to coronavirus.

And the popular Barking Dog restaurant in South Belfast took to Facebook after three tables, who they said had confirmed earlier in the day, failed to turn up without notifying them.

They said: “Thanks to the table of 6, 4 and 3 that didn’t bother their asses calling to cancel tonight, EVEN THOUGH THEY CONFIRMED THEIR BOOKING WITH US THIS MORNING!”

“It’s been a tough enough year on our industry, and so many of us have fought so hard to keep our doors open and our staff in employment.

“The last thing we need is to have to battle a lack of basic human decency in some people.

“These tables could’ve been given to other potential customers, but alas we were misled by those three tables that “confirmed”!

“We’re very grateful to everyone who did dine with us tonight, we know we can depend on your repeat custom as well as that from our many regulars.

“Thanks for taking the time to read this, we felt it needed to be said."
