Belfast Pride Picnic 2019 a colourful event for the whole family

Belfast Pride festival kicked off today in the city centre with a very colourful family-friendly picnic.

Crowds gathered in the grounds of Belfast City Hall for the event which marks the beginning of a week of activities to celebrate Belfast Pride Festival 2019.

This year's event was also attended by PSNI after they announced earlier this week that they would be taking part in the annual pride parade next weekend for the third year in a row.

Uniformed PSNI officers took part in Belfast Pride in 2017 , while the force said its members had been involved before that, just not in uniform.
