Belfast Pride parade route, times and after party guide

From its first appearance back in 1991, Belfast Pride has grown year on year to become the biggest cross community event in Northern Ireland.

And this year, it's set to be huge with thousands expected to hit the city centre for the colourful LGBT event.

Here's all you need to know about the parade.

When and where is it?

Belfast Pride is a 10-day festival which launched on July 26 and runs until this Sunday, August 4.

There have been more than 100 events lined up across festival, with the biggie set for this weekend.

The parade will be on Saturday 3rd August at 1pm, leaving from Custom House with build up starting from 11.30am.

What is the route?

Like last year, the route will start and finish at Custom House Square , just a stone's throw from Pride Village over at the Big Fish which will offer everything from food and drink to kids' entertainment.

Here's a map the guys at Pride have produced so you know just where you're going if you're planning to take part.

Starting out at Custom House Square, marchers will head down High Street, making a loop through the city centre along North Street, Royal Avenue, Donegall Place , Chichester Street and back up Victoria Street towards the Albert Clock.

Who will be there?

This year Pride has a huge number of backers, with applications from more than 180 groups to take part in the parade - more than 40 since last year.

Among the high profile organisations taking part for the first time are BBC NI, Ulster Rugby and NI Scouts.

PSNI officers applauded at Pride

The event is organised by Belfast Pride, with support from other LGBT groups including The Rainbow Project, HEReNI and Cara Friend.

It's a family-friendly event, so any one at all can rock up and get involved.

What's the weather forecast?

It looks OK.

Mainly grey, with a bit of sunshine in the morning, it should be pretty dry all day.

Temperatures should be decent too, sticking at around 19C right through the afternoon.

Where's the after party?

This year the partying is going to be at The Telegraph Building.

Organisers said: "Belfast’s biggest annual Pride night event just got bigger… After years of selling out Mandela Hall, Taboo announces they’re taking over The Telegraph Building on Saturday 3rd August in conjunction with Belfast Pride to bring you the only OFFICIAL Belfast Pride After Party!"

The fun will start at 9pm and is due to finish around 2.30am. To find out about getting tickets click here .
