Belfast Pride 2019: What is Cara-Friend?

As we head towards the Belfast Pride festival many groups are gearing up for the LGBTQ+ events on the horizon.

One of these is Cara-Friend.

Revealing its plans for the festival, the organisation explains that 50 years after Stonewall, Pride remains a necessary protest and act of resistance.

The flyer says: "So maybe you're a seasoned queer activist tearing down the system and saying a loud NO! to rainbow capitalism.

"Or maybe you're a middle of the road gay kid just holding your head high as you walk at Pride for the first time with your friends.

"Wither way, be kind to each other, and look out for each other. We are many diverse voices. But we are family."

Cara-Friend offers a number of different services:

LGBTQ+ Youth Services

LGBTQ+ Inclusive Schools Programme

LBTI Gendered Violence Project

LGBTQ+ Awareness Training for Professionals

LGBTQ+ Campaigning & Advocacy

Out NorthWest Project
