Belfast Pride 2019: LGBT history tour of the city

Northern Ireland has spent a long time as a troubled place to live.

And prior to 1982 things were even more challenging for the LGBT community, when being gay was still illegal.

As part of the 10-day festival starting on July 26, Belfast Pride is linking up with BestFast Tours and Belfast Mic Tours to present the Belfast LGBT+ History Walking Tour.

Walks start at the front of Belfast City Hall where you will meet your friendly tour guides, Richard and Donal, who will take you on a 90-minute journey into Belfast’s LGBT+ history.

Organisers said: "The tour will use images, stories and musical memories to give you an insight in to what it was like before decriminalisation and coming out and trying to live your life against the background of the troubles right through to the present day."

The tours will run on:

Wednesday July 31 – 1pm & 4pm

Thursday August 1 – 1pm & 4pm

Friday August 2 – 1pm & 4pm

Sunday August 3 – 1pm & 4pm
