Belfast pizzeria flooded with photos of home chefs after kit launch

A Belfast restaurant has been flooded with photos of home chefs after launching a pizza making “survival kit”.

Pizza Guyz owner Ciarán Kelly hit on the idea after he was forced to close three weeks ago.

He’s since received hundreds of photos of families brought together over pizza.

Mr Kelly said: “We even had a couple that organised a pizza date as with social distancing they haven’t seen each other for four weeks.

“The guy ordered the pizza one for his house, one for his girlfriend's house and they did a zoom call where they were making their pizza together.

“He dropped down on one knee wearing the Pizza Guyz bandanna and asked his girlfriend to marry him.”

Mr Kelly said he hoped their success would inspire other businesses.

Each kit comes with a £10 voucher for the first fortnight after they re-open.

He added: “Sharing a pizza cooking experience in these difficult times is doing an amazing thing of bringing the family young and old together to share this remarkable experience.”
