Belfast petrol bomb attack on home probed by PSNI

Police are investigating after a petrol bomb was thrown at a property in North Belfast on Monday.

The incident occurred in the Glenard Brook area shortly after midnight on February 10.

The single device attack caused damage to a window pane and scorch damage to the window frame.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "There were no reports of any injuries.

"A white car was reported to have left the scene immediately after the incident cityward along the nearby Cliftonville Road.

"Officers are working to establish a motive for the incident and would ask anyone with any information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police at Tennent Street on 101 quoting reference number 19 10/02/20."

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

North Belfast Councillor, JJ Magee, said these types of attacks where holding the people of the area to ‘ransom’.

The Sinn Fein Councillor said: “This attack comes only weeks after similar attacks when a cars and sheds were burnt.

“The attackers are holding this community to ransom and it needs to come to an end.

“The resident are fearful and they want this to stop immediately.”
