If you're looking for love, Belfast may be the place you'll be able to find it...or at least you'll likely find a date for the evening.
An annual list recently published by global travel site Big 7 Travel has revealed Northern Ireland's biggest city is number 29 on their list of the top 50 places in Europe for singles.
Their research showed that Belfast, at last count, had 106,568 single people living in the city, which amounts to 46.6% of the total population - quite promising if you're looking for love!
So, who knows, you may very well find your match on your next big night out in Cathedral Quarter.
To come up with their top 50 list, the travel site compiled data on singletons, dating apps, social life, and the opinions of residents for the final results of the best cities across Europe for single people.
Their ranking criteria took the following into consideration:
- Highest usage rate of Tinder and/or Badoo dating apps
- Population percentage of single people per capita (Eurostat)
- Overall population of city
- Data from dating app research on Statista
- Nomad List’s live data of ‘Top Tinder Places in Europe 2021’
The top five best countries for single people in Europe, according to Big 7 Travel, are:
- Stockholm, Sweden
- Madrid, Spain
- Oslo, Norway
- London, England
- Berlin, Germany
