Belfast International emergency training response ongoing as public urged not to be alarmed

Passengers arriving at Belfast International Airport today are being urged not to be alarmed by the 'significant presence' of emergency service vehicles.

The airport has alerted the public that they are carrying out a training exercise to practice and plan in the event of an emergency incident.

The training exercise is taking place at the airport site today, November 20 between 10am and 3pm.

In a statement, Belfast International Airport said: "The exercise will be carried out in areas of our airfield and within the terminal and allow the airport’s teams and partners to practice and plan for an incident.

"Partners involved include the emergency services, airlines and ground handling partners."

"Passengers may see an increase in activity and a significant number of emergency vehicles and personnel as part of the exercise but there is no need for members of the public to be alarmed.

"A certain area within the terminal will be used and cordoned off to the public and airport staff will be in place to allay any concerns raised by passengers.
