Belfast International Airport bar closes due to staffing issues

Belfast International Airport's kitchen and bar Sip and Stone has closed due to staffing problems.

In a statement on the airport's Facebook page on Tuesday, they say the current 'pingdemic' has created the shortages within the team's staff.

Sip and Stone will remain closed until August 10.

The airport's statement read: "The current ‘pingdemic’ has created a number staff shortages and we have made the difficult decision to close Sip and Stone until 10th August.

"Starbucks remains open for hot drinks and snacks. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you and look forward to welcoming you back soon."

Meanwhile, six further coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

The death toll from the Department of Health now stands at 2,205.

Three of these fatalities are said to have occurred during the current reporting period, and the other three outside of it.

A further 1,082 positive Covid cases have also been recorded in NI today.

This brings the total number of positive cases to 159,471 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health.
