Belfast homeowner wakes to find intruder in house

A homeowner in East Belfast woke to find an intruder in their house.

It happened in the early hours of Saturday, August 14, and police said the culprit made off empty-handed.

A PSNI spokeswoman said detectives are appealing for information following the report of a burglary at a house in the Cairnburn Road area of Belfast in the early hours of Saturday morning, August 14.

Detective Sergeant Nugent said: "Shortly after 5am, we received a report that the homeowner had woken up to find that a male, wearing dark coloured clothing, had gained entry to the house.

"He made off and nothing was taken from the property.

"Anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious in the area between 3am and 5am or with any information about this incident, is asked to call detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 326 14/08/21, or submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.
