Belfast Holyland vandalism sees several cars hit with "hundreds of pounds' worth of damage"

Vandalism in South Belfast has seen several cars damaged over the weekend.

Several cars in the Holyland area have had wing mirrors taken off and rooves damaged in a spate of vandalism in the area.

The incidents happened in Rugby Avenue between 4am and 6.40am on Saturday morning, August 15.

Police issued a witness appeal on Facebook saying: "Police are currently investigating criminal damage that occurred in the Holylands area of Belfast, specifically Rugby Avenue between 0400 and 0640 hours.

"This has involved damage to at least 7 cars and hundreds of pounds worth of damage with wing mirrors being kicked off and roofs jumped on and dented.

"An eye witness describes three suspects as approximately 20 years old, one wearing a black T-shirt with writing on it and black shorts, second with a bright pink top and the third with a grey hoodie last seen heading along Jerusalem street.

"If you have any information in relation to these males or if they turned up at one of the many late parties we are aware of, please contact police on 101 quoting reference number 570 of 15/08/20."
