Belfast Festival of the River will see Lagan and its walkway transformed today

A route along the River Lagan and its walkway have been transformed for the main Belfast Féile event, which is taking place today.

Why not grab the family, and a raincoat or brolly, and head down to the Festival of the River.

Community groups from South and East Belfast with the support of Belfast City Council and Féile an Phobail have come together to organise a fabulous week of community festive family fun events.

Following the success of the inagural Féile na hAbhann / Festival of the River which attracted over 10,000 people in 2019 a spokesperson said they "aim to again animate the Lagan Walkway and River in a day of festivities designed for maximum family enjoyment with a promise of something for everyone".

The main event will take place on Sunday 8th August from 12-4pm along the Lagan River and Walkway section between the Albert Bridge and Ormeau Bridge and everyone is welcome.

"With zones along the animated route from Circus, Nature, Water activities and Live Music there is FREE family fun for everyone to behold!

"Féile na hAbhann / Festival of the River will continue with a week full of community activities from Song and history, sport, play activities and much more.
