Belfast drivers warned of 'significant traffic disruption' on Monday morning

Drivers have been told 'significant traffic disruption' is expected in Belfast city centre on Monday morning.

Howard Street is down from four lanes to one due to NI Water Emergency repairs on May 15, according to Trafficwatch NI.

Drivers have been asked to consider an alternative route if possible.

Translink said the bus stop on Howard Street is currently suspended and Metro 7 services will be departing from Bedford Street until further notice.

Trafficwatch said: "Belfast City Centre - Howard Street just beyond the back of City Hall (Bedford Street to Upper Queen Street) is down from 4 lanes to 1 lane traffic lane this morning due NI Water Emergency repairs to a burst water main.

"Cars, lorries, the Glider and all other public transport sharing the same lane.

"Significant traffic disruption can be expected especially through the morning peak period - consider an alternative route if possible.

"A partial closure beyond this incident is still in place on Grosvenor Road towards the A12 Westlink..."

They added: "The Grosvenor Road (country bound) is closed and likely to remain so until Monday 15 May between Durham Street and the A12 Westlink to facilitate emergency repairs to a burst water mains. Diversions are in place and motorist should expect delays of up to 5-10 minutes.

"Grosvenor Road is open to citybound traffic but the road is down to one lane heading towards Great Victoria Street."
